Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic talked in Berlin today, as part of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue, with Minister of State for Europe and Climate in Germany's Federal Foreign Office Anna Lührmann.
Djedovic pointed out that Serbia is ready to improve cooperation in the field of energy and climate policies, which represent an important dimension of the European integration process.
She underlined that our country wants to set ambitious, but achievable goals in the energy transition, which is the subject of the Integrated Energy and Climate Plan, which is currently being developed.
The minister stated that Serbia has decided to follow the EU in its aspirations to achieve carbon neutrality, but in order to be successful in that process, it is important to have strong and continuous technical and financial support from our EU partners, so that the energy transition can be carried out in a financially sustainable and socially just way.
Djedovic added that our country is interested in continuing cooperation on projects related to the development of energy infrastructure, building new capacities from renewable energy sources (RES) and increasing energy efficiency, as well as being grateful to Germany for its previous support for projects in the energy sector.
Lührmann informed Djedovic about plans to establish a regional platform for dialogue on climate partnership for the Western Balkans region, which aims to ensure greater energy security for the countries of the region for the coming winter.
