Artificial intelligence important for future, further growth of our country

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today that artificial intelligence will be important for the future and further growth of our country, the progress and efficiency of its economy and the quality of public administration services, pointing out that last year the export of ICT services was recorded in the value of €2.7 billion.

Speaking at the "Age of Artificial Intelligence" conference, which was organised to mark two years of work of the Serbian Artificial Intelligence Institute, Brnabic emphasised that it is a good thing that the Novi Sad Science and Technology Park is developing and growing.

According to her, estimates are that by 2030 artificial intelligence will affect the growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) by more than 15 percent at the global level and that those countries that do not invest in the development of artificial intelligence will not be able to count on being part of global growth.

The Prime Minister assessed that it was a good strategic decision to invest in scientific and research institutes because Serbia must not lag behind, but must be one of the leaders in that process if it wants fast and dynamic economic growth and development in the near future.

She also stated that in the past five years, Serbia was the country with the highest growth in the export of ICT services in Europe, which amounted to 112 percent, and a 45 percent growth rate of the ICT sector in 2022 was higher than in all European countries.
