Brnabic particularly pointed out the recent adoption of a set of judicial laws in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, in accordance with the constitutional amendments, whose goal is to strengthen the independence and autonomy of judicial bodies.
When it comes to the information and media sector, the government recently adopted the Draft Law on Electronic Communications, while the priority is to complete the drafting of amendments to the Law on Public Information and the Media as well as the Law on Electronic Media.
The Prime Minister added that it is also very important to continue with the full implementation of the Media Strategy.
Commissioner Varhelyi pointed out the importance of continuing work on the adoption of media laws, as well as harmonisation with EU directives in that area.
He also emphasised the importance of adopting a set of judicial laws.
Brnabic and Varhelyi also discussed energy and cooperation in that area.
The Prime Minister said that the construction of the gas interconnector with Bulgaria will be finished by the end of 2023 and that EU financial assistance for transformation in this sector is extremely important for Serbia.
Varhelyi praised the way in which Serbia manages the migration crisis and added that the EU is ready to help in further solving this problem.
