Milan Parivodic, left, and Bojan Dimitrijevic at today's press conference
Speaking at a press conference held at the event, Dimitrijevic said that the brand fair will gather representatives of a large number of domestic and foreign successful brands and leading experts from the field of branding.
Recalling that last year the brand fair was held for the first time in Belgrade, gathering 70 exhibitors and 12,000 visitors, Dimitrijevic said that this year's fair will include professional lectures and the main guest will be Mark Gobe, one of the world's leading branding experts.
The Minister said that owing to the use of the branding technique, Serbia's foreign trade was improved in 2004 and efforts aimed at improving the country's exports were welcomed.
He voiced hope that in next few years Serbia will have internationally recognisable and accepted trade marks, which will help it compete with EU countries.
A law on trade should be adopted this year, which envisages the formation of a special branding department that would give institutional support to branding in Serbia, Dimitrijevic pointed out.
Serbian Minister of International Economic Relations Milan Parivodic said that it is very important for Serbia to have strong brands. He warned that without them Serbia won't be able to go to foreign markets, while foreign goods will outsell domestic ones on the local markets.
Parivodic said that a campaign of an overall branding of Serbia is being prepared which will change the image of Serbia in the eyes of politicians, businessmen and consumers in the world.
That campaign should beef up the value of each brand and company in Serbia, the Minister explained.
