NALED presents to government 35 measures for faster economic growth

The National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) presented today to Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and ministers of the Serbian government proposals for 35 measures to improve business conditions, which it considers a priority for accelerating economic growth, economic development and attracting investments, greater efficiency of public administration, creating jobs and better standard of citizens.

On this occasion, Brnabic pointed out that many reforms that have been implemented and are ongoing would not have been successful without the support and initiative of NALED.

I am glad that we will continue working together in the new term. Some of the priority areas we will work on are land conversion, legalisation, justice, new electronic administration services, digitalisation of the economy, artificial intelligence and education, she pointed out.

The Prime Minister stated that today's meeting is an opportunity to jointly look at areas where there is potential for further reforms, which will contribute to the continued growth of our country's economy in these challenging times.

Representatives of NALED's six federations and the BFC Club of Cities and Municipalities emphasised that in the new government's mandate, the digitisation of healthcare procedures should be carried out in order to facilitate citizens' access to health care, facilitate access to public services by creating a mobile application of eGovernment and a simpler application procedure to portals of institutions.

With the development of primary selection, citizens need to be enabled to separate special types of waste in households.

Also, farmers should be provided with more efficient incentives through the establishment of eAgrar, a new programme to suppress the grey economy should be adopted, the legalization process should be completed and other open issues in the field of property should be resolved, which would make it easier for cities and municipalities to attract investments.

Among the priority measures proposed to the government are the further reduction of the tax burden on wages, solving the issue of parafiscal levies, as well as the optimisation of labour legislation, primarily through the regulation of flexible work and the extension of the seasonal employment reform to new activities.

There are also proposals for the improvement of energy efficiency, introduction of the eSpace system, reduction of paper documentation in the communication of the state, citizens and the economy through the development of an electronic registry and e-Delivery.

Priorities also include air and water protection through changing the policy of compensation for polluters and strengthening inspection supervision, greater connection between private and state healthcare and simplification of the procedure for putting new drugs on the market, and the proposal is to simplify the donation of food before the expiration date.
