Commitment to deepening overall relations with Slovakia

Belgrade, 14 November 2022

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic held a meeting today with a delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Slovak National Assembly, led by President of that body Marian Kery, at which it was assessed that bilateral relations between the two countries are traditionally good and friendly.

The necessity of deepening and further strengthening of relations in all areas of common interest, especially in the economic sphere, was highlighted in the discussion.

Dacic emphasised that our country highly values Slovakia's principled support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia and finding a sustainable solution to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.

Kery expressed Slovakia's readiness to continue intensive communication and cooperation with Serbia in all fields, and particularly advocated the intensification of economic cooperation, as well as a more significant presence of Slovak businessmen on the Serbian market.

He said that Slovakia remains committed to its principled position not to recognise the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, and that his country will continue to provide full support for Serbia's European integration in the future.

Also, the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Slovak National Assembly expressed his satisfaction with the position and treatment that representatives of the Slovak national minority enjoy in Serbia, as well as the expectation that such quality of relations towards them will be preserved in the future.
