Brnabic expressed her gratitude on the support which the Mission offers in comprehensive reforms in the field of the rule of law and the protection of human and minority rights, stating that the Serbian government will remain committed to the continuation of reforms and the strengthening of the rule of law.
The Prime Minister said that in the field of media and information, the first priority will be the adoption of a set of amendments to media laws. In addition, it is necessary to speed up the work on the implementation of the Media Strategy and the adoption of the action plan for the next period.
The interlocutors referred to the case of threats sent to the editorial office of the daily "Danas" and emphasised the importance of a quick and good reaction of the Ministry of the Interior and the Prosecutor's Office in this case.
Ambassador Braathu informed the Prime Minister about the details of the visit to the editorial office of "Danas", together with member of the Permanent Working Group Veran Matic and representative of the Ministry of the Interior Bekir Dudic.
Brnabic pointed out that the competent authorities are in constant contact and continue to carefully monitor this case.
The Prime Minister underlined that she will continue to monitor all cases of threats and endangering the safety of journalists and media workers and that they must be free and safe in performing their journalistic work.
The Head of the OSCE Mission also welcomed the results achieved so far in that area, primarily the work of the SOS telephone for reports of threats and endangering the safety of journalists and cooperation with contact points in the Ministry of the Interior and prosecutor's offices.
He said that the OSCE will continue to support all government's activities and dialogue with journalistic and media associations.
The Prime Minister informed Braathu about the activities regarding the adoption of a new set of judiciary laws and highlighted the importance of all activities and reforms for making our judiciary more efficient, in the best interest of citizens.
Brnabic and Braathu also discussed the upcoming elections for the councils of national minorities.
