Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture Maja Gojkovic and Director of the Council of Europe for Democratic Participation Matjaz Gruden expressed readiness today for the continuation of successful cooperation and the realisation of the ongoing and planned projects.

Great contribution of Serbia to Council of Europe in terms of culture

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the cooperation to date in the field of culture with the Council of Europe has been carried out through active participation of Serbia’s representatives in various working bodies, such as the Culture, Heritage and Landscape Oversight Committee.
This cooperation is also achieved through conventions of the Council of Europe, among which are the European Convention on the Protection of the Archaeological Heritage, the Framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society and the European Convention on the Landscape.
Gojkovic and Gruden highlighted the importance of cooperation in the fight against illegal trade and the destruction of cultural goods and Gojkovic underlined that our country is very active in this field.
The two officials welcomed the participation of Serbia in many routes as part of the programme “Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe”, as well as in the new “Women Writers” route.
