Serbia's commitment to improvement of individual, collective rights of national minorities

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke today with OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Kairat Abdrahmanov about continuous progress in exercising the rights of national minorities in our country and the development of cooperation with that international organisation.

Brnabic emphasised Serbia's commitment to the improvement of individual and collective rights of national minorities and stated that the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina is an outstanding example, noting that a large number of national and ethnic communities live in its territory.

The Prime Minister thanked the High Commissioner for the support that the OSCE has been providing to Serbia for years in improving education in the languages of national minorities.

According to the prime minister, the composition of her new cabinet also speaks of the importance that Serbia attaches to the participation of national minorities in the performance of high state functions.

Abdrahmanov welcomed Belgrade's efforts to establish a strong legislative framework in the area of protecting the rights of national minorities and pointed out that Serbia is a good example for the entire region in this field.

Abdrahmanov congratulated Prime Minister Brnabic on the re-election and appointment of new ministers and added that he is carefully following the preparations for the election of members of the national councils of national minorities, as well as that the OSCE considers Serbia one of the most reliable partners.
