Increased interest of Korean companies in investments in Serbia

Belgrade, 24 October 2022

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke today with Ho-sung Song, special envoy of the government of the Republic of Korea and president and CEO of the Kia Corporation, the oldest manufacturer of motor vehicles in Korea and one of the world's largest companies in this area.

Brnabic assessed that the bilateral relations of our countries are characterised by the intensification of political dialogue at a high level and the continuous strengthening of political, economic and cultural ties.

Speaking about economic cooperation and foreign investments, the Prime Minister stated that there is an increased interest of Korean companies in investing in the Serbian market, which recognised our country as a good investment destination.

The Director of the Korean corporation pointed out that he recognised Serbia as a leading country in the region when it comes to foreign investments and that it is possible to consider frameworks for some future cooperation in the field of high technologies and the automotive industry.

The Korean delegation informed the Prime Minister about Korea's candidacy for organising the EXPO 2030 exhibition in Busan.

Brnabic assessed that there is exceptional cooperation in the field of digitalisation and improvement of electronic public administration services in Serbia and pointed out that the two countries will succeed in improving and expanding cooperation in the field of the IT industry, but also in the field of the automotive industry, in which Korea achieves exceptional results and can greatly contribute to the development of that sector in Serbia.

The meeting was also attended by Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Serbia Jaewoong Lee.
