Prime Minister Ana Brnabic talked today with World Bank Country Director for the Western Balkans Xiaoqing Yu about the continuation of cooperation with this financial institution in various fields – from energy to digitalisation.
Brnabic informed her interlocutor about the priorities of the new government und underlined that energy is undoubtedly in the first place.
Other priorities are investments in infrastructure and the Green Agenda, with the aim of developing the productivity of the economy and innovations, continuation of development of artificial intelligence, where we already have cooperation with the World Bank, as well as biotechnology, the Prime Minister said.
According to her, the challenges which the whole state faced with the coronavirus pandemic were successfully overcome, but now new ones emerged which require close cooperation with the World Bank.
Serbia is the regional leader in many areas, first and foremost in IT sector and investments, and we will maintain that continuity, Brnabic said.
Xiaoqing Yu told the Prime Minister of Serbia that she is happy for the continuation of cooperation which her predecessors established successfully and added that the largest programme in the Western Balkans has been agreed with Belgrade.
She congratulated Brnabic on the successful management of the country during the pandemic crisis and stated that the institution she is leading wants to help the Serbian government with respect to the plans regarding macroeconomy and energy.
Xiaoqing Yu also presented a new cooperation framework to 2026 and the plans for budget support for this and next year.
