Speaking at a press conference at which he presented a summary of the results of the ministry’s work, Dimitrijevic recalled that besides the laws adopted, also adopted were ten accompanying decrees, bylaws and other sub-law acts, which will significantly contribute to the regulation of these areas, while this week a meeting will be held with representatives of broadcasting agencies on implementation of the Law on advertising.
He said that among the most important activities in the upcoming year will be the adoption of the Law on trade and a strategy for the development of tourism, and added that Serbia has huge potential for the development of tourism and the possibility to reach a five percent participation of tourism in gross domestic product (GDP).
He said that the goal is to reach the target of 30 million tourist night accommodations, and currently there are from five to six million, and recalled that this year a realisation of loans for tourism incentives has also begun.
He said that this year, direct revenues from tourism amounted to $300 million, and added that foreign currency revenues in tourism have increased by 40 percent.
Dimitrijevic said that in the upcoming year a sum of 800 million dinars is envisaged for the beginning of investment activities, of which 500 million is intended for the building of infrastructure, while 200 million is planned for loans, and 120 million for subsidies.
He said that negotiations are being conducted with 70 potential domestic investors – business enterprises, and the creation of a “national brand” is also on the agenda, which is very important for the overall presentation of the country and the improvement of its image, but still the emphasis will be on tourism.
According to Dimitrijevic, in the upcoming year the campaign “Buy Serbian” will be continued, as well as the promotion of the best domestic brands, and on Friday, the best corporate brands and trade marks of the year will be announced.
