Aleksandar Jovic
Speaking at a press conference held at the Serbian government, Jovic reiterated that in the course of the last year, three more banks signed agreements with the National Service, bringing the total to nine banks participating in this programme.
According to Jovic, negotiations with Komercijalna Banka, Banca Intesa, EFG Bank, the National Bank of Greece, and the Belgrade Commercial Bank are underway, and they should start approving housing loans insured by the National Service.
Jovic said that the average price of a square metre of housing space in Serbia is €560, while the average for Belgrade is €900.
The average value of insured loans was €27,000, and the greatest number of insured loans were in Vojvodina - 45 percent. Belgrade came in second at 43 percent, then central Serbia with 10 percent of insured loans, while southern Serbia participates with only two percent.
Jovic said that more than 90 percent of citizens who decided to apply for a housing loan purchased apartments worth up to €50,000 and he voiced satisfaction with the fact that have been no delays in the instalment payments.
He said that several novelties are expected for next year, such as the introduction of "preliminary loan approval" in the banking business practices, and housing loan insurance for apartments under construction, which will enable the adoption of a law on mortgage.
Jovic said that the rise in the overall supply of insured housing loans to €100 million is expected, which equals approximately 3,000 individually insured loans.
