Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today at the inaugural session of the Council for Social Entrepreneurship that Serbia is creating an inclusive society in which everyone has equal opportunities, with a special focus on the underprivileged.
Brnabic recalled that the government prepared the Law on Social Entrepreneurship at the beginning of the year, which was then adopted, but now a more difficult part is coming and that is its implementation.
This is one of the best and most modern laws that we adopted, the Prime Minister underlined and added that oganisations of civil society and the Serbian government worked together on it, with a great help from partners from abroad.
She said that the reason why it took so long to make this law is because the government and non-governmental organisations did not trust each other.
The underprivileged suffered the most because of that. I hope we will work much more in the future and that we will trust each other because only in that way can we build an inclusive, responsible society, with equal opportunities for all, the Prime Minister noted.
Brnabic called on all members of the Council to propose amendments to the law if practice proves it necessary, as it is a very complex and delicate issue about which we are still learning, not only we in Serbia, but also our partners in the European Union.
She underlined that a programme of social entrepreneurship is the next very important step as it will enable real support for approximately 500 companies of social entrepreneurship and encourage the creation of new companies that will contribute to the development of entire society.
The Prime Minister called on international partners to support social entrepreneurship in order to raise as many funds as possible for its development.
