The signing of the Agreement represents an important form of improvement of cultural and overall cooperation which is of mutual importance, and the joint care of cultural heritage and its protection is the best indicator of a deep commitment to the further strengthening of relations.
The aim of this Agreement is to establish mechanisms to prevent illicit imports, exports and transfer of ownership of cultural goods, defined and protected by the national laws of the two countries and international conventions.
The Agreement establishes the basis and methods for identification, protection, preservation, return and restitution of cultural property and for reciprocal measures to prevent theft, illegal excavations, illicit imports, exports and ownership transfer.
