Serbia’s education system supports country’s economic growth

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic underlined in London today that Serbia’s education system supports the country’s economic growth by creating an environment in which students learn about modern technologies and their potentials from the earliest age.

Speaking at a ministerial meeting at the Education World Forum, Ruzic informed his interlocutors about the challenges which Serbia’s education system faced during the coronavirus pandemic, and about the process of comprehensive digitalisation of education, whose main potential is to improve the quality of instruction and learning.

He underlined that it is important to achieve compatibility of education with the needs of our pupils and students, but also with the needs of the business environment.

According to the Minister, Serbia is continuously investing in the advanced training of teaching staff, whereas the equipping of schools with the proper ICT infrastructure is underway.

Ruzic recalled that during the coronavirus pandemic everyone understood the advantages of digitalisation, when traditional instruction was substituted for remote learning.

The Education World Forum, which is being held from 22 to 25 May, gathers 112 ministers from 107 countries, and the main topic is how countries respond to new and long-lasting challenges and how education can help to create a successful economy.
