Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic met in Brussels today with European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi.
Selakovic said on this occasion that membership in the European Union is a priority of Serbia’s foreign policy and its strategic commitment and underlined that it is important to give encouragement to the region on its European path.
The two officials also spoke about the situation in Ukraine and the region, and about the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs underlined that Belgrade is fully committed to dialogue with Pristina, whereas the commitment of the other side to this process is questionable, especially bearing in mind the application of Pristina for membership in the Council of Europe, which does not contribute to the process of normalisation of relations.
Selakovic underlined that for Serbia the preservation of stability in the region and orientation towards as intensive cooperation as possible are of crucial importance, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
