Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke today with representatives of the Serbia Grains Association (Zita Srbije) about the export of grains and oilseeds from the Republic of Serbia.
This is the second meeting of the Prime Minister with representatives of this association, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Branislav Nedimovic.
Association representatives welcomed the decision made by the government at its session last week to limit the export of wheat, corn, flour and refined sunflower oil.
They said that the greatest challenges they currently face are of logistical nature and that the priority is that the administration of quotas be as simple as possible in order to make exports as efficient as possible.
Brnabic underlined that government’s priority is to ensure that the supply of the local population with all necessary foodstuffs remains secure in the coming period, which is why the export of all primary products will be limited.
All participants in the meeting agreed that in order to achieve that, it is fundamental to hold such meetings, with the aim of following market flows and adjusting export quotas accordingly.
We remind those interested that the applications for export permissions for May can be filed until Thursday electronically at e-mail zahtevi.izvoz@minpolj.gov.rs.
One applicant can request the permission to export a maximum of 20 percent of the monthly quota allowed for a group of products.
In case exporters do not export or exceed the quotas approved, they will not be able to apply for export permission the following month. Applications for the following months will need to be filed from the 20th to the 25th day of the current month.
