Unified Information System of Education launched

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic attended today the launch of the Open Data Portal, which contains data from the Unified Information System of Education (JISP), which gathers in one place all information on institutions and employees within Serbia’s education system, as well as about pupils and students.

Brnabic recalled that the state started working on JISP in 2019 and noted that this system is the best and most important reform in our education system in the last few decades.

She specified that this system includes all aspects of education – the number of students, employees, school facilities, what all these facilities contain, from which schools students go to further education, whether they enrol in grammar schools or secondary vocational schools, whether and in what percent they drop out of school, and other.

According to the Prime Minister, the Portal also contains data on institutions of higher education regarding the average time spent studying at each of these institutions in Serbia, how long students wait to get employed after they finish university, whether they find employment in their field of studies and so on and on.

Brnabic explained that all this is connected with the Central Register of Mandatory Social Insurance and underlined that in this way, a connection between the education system and the economy is obtained.

On the one hand, we have young people who cannot find a job, and on the other, companies that cannot find quality staff. This is a system that will link these two and we will find a solution to these problems, Brnabic stated.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic said that digitalisation is not only a technical and technological process, but also a social one which saves time, resources and funds and turns public administration into a real service for citizens.

Ruzic emphasised that JISP represents the basis for modernisation of management and enables the decision-making process to be based on the relevant and exact data, rationalisation of financing, reduction of administrative burden and other.

Director of the Office for Information Technology and E-Government Mihailo Jovanovic also spoke to those present, stating that approximately 1,300,000 citizens currently use E-Government portals.
