Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic spoke today with Minister of External Affairs, International Trade, Civil Aviation and Diaspora of Saint Lucia Alva Romanus Baptiste about the improvement of bilateral relations between the two countries.
After the meeting, the ministers signed the Agreement between the Serbian government and the government of Saint Lucia on the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports, the Memorandum of Understanding between the two ministries on friendship and cooperation and the Memorandum on cultural cooperation.
At a joint press conference with Baptiste, Selakovic said that this is the first and historic visit of an official of this friendly Caribbean country to Serbia.
He underlined that this meeting was an opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral relations between Serbia and Saint Lucia, but also all possibilities for improving cooperation in the fields of the economy, culture, education, sports and tourism.
The Minister said that he and his counterpart from Saint Lucia assessed that the economic cooperation between Serbia and Saint Lucia is at a low level and that there are ways to improve it.
Baptiste said that it is necessary to provide conditions for the two countries to raise cooperation to a higher level, in order to create better conditions for future generations to work, study and exchange goods.
