Prime Minister Ana Brnabic participated today in the conference "Talents Online 4.0" and on that occasion pointed out that in 2021 the basis for additional economic growth in the future was laid.
At the panel, Brnabic stated that there are many reasons for more and more of our people to return to Serbia from abroad.
During the pandemic, we showed that we know how to deal with crisis situations, in economic terms we achieved one of the best results in Europe in 2020, and this year we will have a very dynamic economic recovery, economic growth will be well above 7% and will be better than what we expected, Brnabic emphasised.
The Prime Minister added that employment is on the rise, 10 highways and fast roads are currently being built, some of the most conservative investors have remained in our country, which is a reflection of trust in Serbia.
Asked how the state treats those who returned to Serbia because of the pandemic and how it plans to keep them permanently, she said that the pandemic saw the return of people to Serbia, that some of them found jobs and others, but noted that there were returns even before 2020.
According to her, from 2015 to 2019, our country managed to reverse the brain drain and now it is an encouraging trend.
The influx of people, as she pointed out, was the largest in the age group of 24 to 29, with highly qualified staff, while the low-skilled continue to leave, most of them drivers and electricians, which is a problem.
The Prime Minister explained that "Open Balkans" means a different Balkans, and if only three countries remain in the initiative, their gross domestic product will increase by an additional one to one and a half percent according to conservative estimates, and if other countries join, growth would be five to seven percent, according to estimates.
Brnabic stated that she sees Serbia until 2026 as an established country of smart people, whose economy is based on innovations and ideas, which will bring a higher quality of life.
Following the tradition of previous years, the conference "Talents Online" is being held at the end of the calendar year for the fourth time and brings together innovators, researchers, entrepreneurs and successful returnees in an open forum, where ideas, experiences and knowledge are exchanged.
