Speeding up work on Youth Law

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today in the Science and Technology Park in Nis, at an event called “Dialogue with the Youth”, that the young people have been recognised as an important factor in society and announced that the work on the Youth Law will be speeded up.

Brnabic said that this law will be completed during the term in office of the current government and proposed that, alongside the National Convention on the European Union, a roof youth organisation be included in broader working groups for the preparation of this law.

Speaking about youth workers in public administration, the Prime Minister said that the programme “My First Salary” is open to public administration too although companies have priority.

During today’s event, the young people spoke with the Prime Minister about preparation of the Youth Law and requested direct participation in making decisions, the formation of youth councils in local self-governments, more funding for youth policies, that youth workers be defined in the Youth Law, and informal groups and student parliaments recognised in the Youth Law.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sport Milan Savic said that this Ministry is proud of everything that has been done in the field of youth work and that it offers absolute support to the establishment of youth councils.

Savic added that last year the Ministry increased the budget for the youth by 15 percent, while this year a 10 percent increase is planned.
