Serbia's IT sector exports close to €2 billion

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic attended today in the Belgrade Science and Technology Park the signing of the Agreement between the Research and Development Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, the City of Belgrade and the Parking Service.

On that occasion, Brnabic stated that this year, exports in the IT sector of the Serbian economy will be almost €2 billion, and the surplus will exceed €1 billion.

Congratulating the signatories, she assessed that they have shown extraordinary initiative and entrepreneurship to design a project that will raise the quality of life of all citizens of Belgrade.

Thus, as she said, we are once again establishing ourselves as leaders in new technologies and in the modernisation of public administration at the national and local level.

She added that we are always looking for additional capacity for the growth of Serbia and emphasized that the development of artificial intelligence was recognized as a chance in time.

Ruzic pointed out that it is estimated that the global market of artificial intelligence will be worth €500 billion by 2025.

The Mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, who signed the Agreement with the directors of the Research and Development Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia, Dubravko Culibrk, and the Parking Service, Andrija Cupkovic, reminded that the "Oko sokolovo" service is an example of artificial intelligence that functions and progresses today.

Cooperation with the Research and Development Institute for Artificial Intelligence of Serbia will certainly contribute to the further improvement of that concept, said Radojicic and emphasized that all that is important for the concept of "smart city" in Belgrade.

Culibrk said that the goal of that institute is to create a "knowledge economy" by applying artificial intelligence, adding that it is estimated that by 2025, 126 billion dollars will be spent on software related to artificial intelligence alone.
