At a joint press conference with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid, held after their meeting, Selakovic reminded of Serbia's commitment to that organisation and its principles.
He said that he exchanged opinions and views with Schmid on how they see the future work of that organisation, emphasising that Serbia has extremely good cooperation with the OSCE.
The Minister pointed out the specificity of Serbia, in which, unlike the other 52 participating countries, there are two OSCE missions with headquarters in Belgrade and Pristina.
According to him, our country is especially proud of the cooperation with the mission in Belgrade, which makes a selfless and significant contribution to the reform processes in Serbia aimed at creating a better, more organized and more efficient society.
Selakovic conveyed that he also talked with Schmid about the functioning of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo and Metohija and that he informed the Secretary General about the latest events in the southern province, in September and October.
He stated that Schmid informed about the growing tensions in Kosovo and the fact that in the last 10 months, the number of ethnically motivated attacks on the Serbian population has significantly increased.
An important aspect of the talks on Kosmet is the functioning of the OSCE Mission based in Pristina, which we consider the most important international status-neutral presence of a regional international organisation on the ground, and which is realized in accordance with UN Resolution 1244, the Minister pointed out.
The situation in the region was also discussed during the meeting, and Selakovic emphasised Serbia's commitment to building good neighbourly relations, preserving stability and strengthening regional integration.
Schmid said that the OSCE's partnership with Serbia remains strong, reminding that Serbia, since its chairmanship in 2015, has contributed to stability in the region and beyond.
According to her, the meeting discussed reforms and progress in Serbia, the work of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, as well as reforms in the security sector.
Our mission will continue to support the implementation of legislation and reforms in order to achieve the set goals, Schmid said, adding that Serbia is a leader in regional initiatives and has shown commitment to good neighbourly relations.
