The officials discussed the manner of control of covid passes, reading of digital green certificates, prevention of possible abuses, as well as the date of the beginning of the application of this measure.
It was decided that the punishment of legal and natural persons will start on Monday, 25 October. On Saturday and Sunday, all inspections will be on the ground, in order to, together with the caterers, check in practice how the system works. This decision was made for the purpose of providing additional time to caterers, in order to find the best and most efficient system of organization and control of covid certificates.
The goal of introducing covid passes is exclusively to protect the health of all residents of Serbia, and not to fine citizens. Therefore, the government of Serbia hopes that citizens and businesses will behave responsibly during the two days of the weekend, considering that the decision on the control of covid passes and fines will not be further delayed.
At today's session of the government, in consultation with the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team, a decision was made that the covid pass will be valid in case of possession of a Digital Green Certificate and a positive antibody test (IgG), not older than three months and done in a laboratory in public ownership, which proves a sufficiently high degree of protection.
We remind you once again that covid passes, i.e., control of green certificates, is something that has long been applied around the world in catering facilities.
This measure, as well as probably many other epidemiological measures, will be abolished as soon as the level of vaccination of the population reaches a satisfactory level. Judging by the experience of other countries, this will be the basis for a gradual return to the life we remember before 2020.
Four types of vaccines are available in Serbia – the Chinese vaccine Sinopharm, the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, as well as vaccines produced by Pfizer and AstraZeneca. Vaccination is possible at all vaccination points and health centres every day, including weekends.
