In a statement for the press, Brnabic said that Nevesinje received special assistance from the government of Serbia in the amount of three million euros, emphasising that €1.5 million has been paid to that municipality so far, and that the rest of the money will be paid by the end of the year.
Of the first €1.5 million, as she stated, part of the funds was set aside for the reconstruction and equipping of the local music school, cultural centre, library, primary school, kindergarten, but also for city roads.
The goal is to improve the quality of life of the citizens and we never influenced which projects the money would be spent on, but we financed what the local community asked for, she added.
Brnabic expressed satisfaction because today Serbia is strong, capable and aware of helping Serbs in the diaspora, and pointed out that every dinar, mark or euro invested will mean a better quality of life for citizens in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also in Republika Srpska.
The Prime Minister also visited the Church of Christ's Resurrection in Prebilovci, which houses a memorial ossuary testifying to the suffering of the Serbian people during the Second World War.
Brnabic told the press that on her way from Nevesinje to Mostar she had a wish to come to Prebilovci and visit the place of the suffering of the Serbian people and one of its largest execution sites.
It is difficult to be here and to hear again the story about which I only read, but which speaks so much about everything the Serbian people went through, about the complexity of our region and how much time will be needed for reconciliation because this was not an execution site in the Second World War only, but in 1992 too, she explained.
The Prime Minister stated that we must not forget the past, but that we must turn to the future, forgive and create a better future for our region.
We must fight for a better future, better connections and understanding between peoples, because there is no other way to keep people to stay and live here, not only in Prebilovci, but in this entire region, she underlined and added that we owe that to the holy great martyrs of Prebilovci.
