Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke with Serbian parliament Speaker Ivica Dacic and Serbian Public Prosecutor and President of the State Prosecutors’ Council Zagorka Dolovac.
The topic of the meeting was coordination of activities regarding the Action plan for Chapter 23, as part of the accession negotiations of Serbia and the European Union.
All participants in the meeting agreed that the holding of regular, quarterly meetings is a good way and an appropriate mechanism for raising awareness and promoting the rules of behaviour for all when it comes to commenting court decisions and court proceedings.
The participants in the meeting agreed that with the introduction of new activities in the Action plan for Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Basic Rights, the Republic of Serbia will significantly improve the situation in this field.
Today’s meeting is part of regular activities under the Revised action plan for Chapter 23 and the continuation of holding quarterly meetings of the President of the High Judiciary Council, President of the State Prosecutors’ Council, Serbian parliament Speaker and the Minister of Justice, whose aim is to raise awareness of civil servants and politicians on the need for full respect for court decisions and the work of courts and public prosecutor’s offices, and to raise awareness that criticizing court decisions brings independence of the judiciary into question.
