This document, signed at the Western Balkans Rail Summit 2021, reaffirms the commitment to railway modernisation and the pursuit of activities such as digitalisation of railway systems, development of intelligent transport systems, improvement of railway safety, construction of multimodal terminals, opening of the railway market and facilitating transport at border crossings or common crossing points.
Momirovic recalled that 2021 has been declared European Year of the Rail and that this year, the most revolutionary railway project in Serbian history will be completed.
For us, not only this year will be the year of the railways, but also every next one. Connecting the railways in Europe and creating a single railway space is very demanding, but at the same time extremely important task for all of us, the Minister said.
He emphasised that this summit is an indicator that there is a desire and readiness to connect, but also great potential for expanding and strengthening further cooperation.
According to him, the goal of the above-mentioned summit is to improve the regional and European transport policy, as well as to ensure that the transport policy continues to contribute to safer, more efficient, interoperable, digitalised, sustainable and green development of the railway transport system.
