Prime Minister Ana Brnabic expressed today, during the talks with Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria Sebastian Kurz, gratitude for the constructive support and assistance provided by Austria in the European integration process.
She added that Serbia will know how to appreciate and respect this partnership and Austria’s strong commitment within the European Union for the European path of Serbia and the Western Balkans.
Speaking about European integration, the Prime Minister pointed out that she expects that during the Slovenian presidency of the Council of the European Union, Serbia's progress will be positively assessed, which will result in the opening of the clusters that are already prepared.
Stating that Austria will continue to advocate the European perspective and Serbia's membership in the European Union, the Austrian Chancellor extended congratulations on the success and strong struggle of the state in preserving a stable economy during the difficult pandemic conditions.
Kurz pointed out that Serbia is an important economic partner, adding that he expects significant Austrian investments in our market in the near future, thanks not only to good economic, but also political partnership.
Stressing that the stability of the region is an extremely important issue for Serbia, the Prime Minister expressed concern over the current situation in the negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina, the failure of Pristina to implement the Brussels Agreement and the security of the Serb and non-Albanian population in Kosovo and Metohija.
The Federal Chancellor pointed out that Austria supports the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, which he assessed as a very important process and crucial for the stability and progress of the region.
He stated that Austria will continue to be an important partner of Serbia within the European Union and provide assistance and support on all key issues for our country.
The Prime Minister congratulated the Austrian Chancellor on the Order of the Republic of Serbia on the ribbon, the highest state decoration, awarded to him for special personal merits in developing and strengthening cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries.
