Brnabic assessed that cooperation with the IMF is extremely important for Serbia for maintaining, but also confirming the financial stability of the country, above all, at a time when all the world's economies have been affected by the economic crisis due to the pandemic.
Prior to the start of the official IMF Mission under the arrangement in October this year, the continuation of structural reforms and fiscal stabilization, as well as the budget for next year, are listed as priority areas that will be the most important topics of discussion.
The head of the Office of the International Monetary Fund pointed out that the macroeconomic situation in Serbia was assessed as favourable, adding that the most important fact at the moment was that Serbia managed to preserve the economy and mitigate the consequences of the economic crisis, which would not have been possible.
She stated that Serbia can expect equal support from this institution within the new arrangement, not only in the implementation of further reforms, but also in the technical assistance of the IMF Office in Belgrade.
The Prime Minister expressed the expectation that the new talks with the representatives of the Mission will be as successful as before, and wished the new head of the International Monetary Fund Office in Belgrade, Julia Ustyugova, a lot of success in her professional engagement.
