Prime Minster Ana Brnabic stated today at the Aviation Academy in Belgrade that within several years Serbia will become one of the main centres in Europe for the training of aviation workers, through the system of dual education.
Brnabic attended the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation on the development of the dual model of studies in higher education, which will enable future pilots and air traffic controllers to be educated in the state system according to the dual model of higher education.
The agreement was signed by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Branko Ruzic, Air Serbia General Manager Duncan Naysmith, Director of MTU Maintenance Serbia Rainer Becker and Air Traffic Control Director of Serbia and Montenegro (SMATSA) Predrag Jovanovic.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the aviation industry is one of the most competitive industries which attract the biggest amount of investments, and the plan to be one of the European training centres in the aviation industry will mean raising the entire economy of Serbia to a higher level.
That will no longer be an economy that has so far relied on the auto industry, but a completely different game in which we will participate, which is why this project is so ambitious.
Serbia will invest more than €65 million in the project, Brnabic announced and stated that RSD 191 million have already been invested in the reconstruction of the Aviation Academy, which will be completed by the end of next year.
According to her, everything we have invested and will invest in the future would not make sense if we did not have a private partner who will provide practical knowledge and bring references according to which staff will be trained immediately.
Ruzic assessed that the national model of dual education in Serbia, primarily in the aviation industry, is one of the best implemented, and that the German model of dual education has been applied.
