Prime Minister Ana Brnabic talked today with outgoing Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund in Serbia Sebastian Sosa, about the results achieved during the cooperation and the new arrangement confirmed in June this year.
Brnabic expressed her gratitude to Sosa and his team for a long-term cooperation, emphasising that the support of this institution is extremely important for Serbia, which best testifies to the financial credibility of our country.
Speaking about the new programme, she stated that the priority is the continuation of structural reforms through further reform of public companies, and special attention will be paid to the implementation of the green agenda and the maintenance of macroeconomic and financial stability.
When it comes to the state response to preserving the economy during the epidemiological crisis, Sosa pointed out that the state implemented extensive measures to mitigate the economic consequences that maintained economic activity and enabled GDP growth in the first quarter.
He emphasised that he was satisfied with the progress that Serbia has achieved with economic reforms in recent years, and that this is best reflected in the fact that the new arrangement with the IMF is exclusively of an advisory nature.
The Prime Minister expressed the expectation that, despite the many challenges that await us in the second part of the year, the continuation of cooperation with this institution will be as successful as before, and wished the current permanent representative of the IMF Mission much success in further professional engagement.
