On the occasion of the event themed “Safety and health at work week”, Lalovic said that it is the employers who must understand that it is more cost-effective for them to eliminate injuries at work and make sure their workforce is healthy.
According to Lalovic, the new bill on safety and health at work will yield results only if both social partners – employers and unions alike, work together on its implementation.
The bill on safety and health at work is now in the last phase of adoption by the parliament, the minister pointed out, announcing the beginning of its implementation in mid-November 2005.
Serbian Deputy Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Policy Vera Bozic-Trefald said that in the last 48 hours alone, three workers have lost their lives while at work in Serbia.
