Prime Minister Ana Brnabic called on all citizens today, and especially the young, to get vaccinated against the coronavirus because it depends on them whether we will all be able to return to normal life.
Speaking at a conference occasioned by the beginning of campaign for the vaccination of youth against the coronavirus, Brnabic said that in the age group of up to 30 years old, only 11.9% have been vaccinated.
The Prime Minister specified that until now 2,361,545 citizens of legal age have been vaccinated, which is around 44% of that population, whereas 1,868,519 received the second dose, which is around 35%.
According to her, the greatest number of those vaccinated is in the age group between 65 to 74, of whom 70% are vaccinated.
She added that the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team will hold a session next week and that relaxation of certain measures is being considered.
Brnabic underlined that the epidemiological situation is stable to a great degree due to vaccination, but that we cannot let our guard down until we achieve herd immunity.
If the numbers of positive cases in relation to those tested continue to fall, we will try to relax some measures, to let restaurants and cafes work until midnight or 1 am, the Prime Minister said.
Belgrade Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic said that the campaign launched today shows how social problems can be solved through joint effort and noted that the vaccination of the young is currently one of major problems.
Mayor of Novi Sad Milos Vucevic said that there is no safer and better solution than the vaccination.
The promotion of the youth vaccine campaign was also attended by founder of Exit festival Dusan Kovacevic and founder and owner of festivals Belgrade Music Week, Belgrade Beerfest and Music Awards Ceremony Milenko Skaric.
