Prime Minister Ana Brnabic expressed hope that 2021 will be more successful for both Serbia and the region of the Western Balkans when it comes to European integration.
After a working dinner prepared for the leaders of the Western Balkans by the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Josep Borrell, Brnabic said that this event was useful because it was organised by the people who really advocate the enlargement agenda.
The good advice they shared with us is that all of us together should be much more present in the EU member states, that we should talk to them much more and inform them about what is happening in our countries, the Prime Minister stated.
Brnabic pointed out that she will try to have Serbia present in EU countries as much as possible in order to clarify what is happening, and added that she is sure that the EU countries do not know about some important things that had already begun functioning.
One of these things is that those coming from Serbia no longer need a passport when entering North Macedonia, but only an ID, and since two months ago the same applies when entering Albania too.
She stated that at the dinner for the leaders of the Western Balkans, the focus was on the future and what can be done to make the citizens live better, noting that important political and economic issues were discussed.
The Prime Minister said that one of the topics discussed was also the EU investment plan for the Western Balkans, expressing satisfaction that work on the construction of the highway from Nis to Plocnik, then Pristina, Tirana to the port of Durres will begin before the end of the year.
Brnabic expressed the expectation that the representatives of the EU will attend the event, because it is a regional project that shows what we can do with the presence of the EU.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the atmosphere at the dinner was correct and that there were no provocations, emphasising that everyone tried, because of the hosts who advocate the enlargement agenda, to discuss the future.
