Brnabic and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Tomislav Momirovic, Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic, Director of Air Serbia Duncan Naysmith and US Ambassador to Serbia Anthony Godfrey attended the formal departure of a new plane of Air Serbia, Airbus А330–200 with the image of Nikola Tesla on its first flight to New York.
She recalled that during 2020, Air Serbia returned on evacuation and repatriation flights 10,310 citizens of Serbia, who were stuck on airports around the world, when passenger flights were being cancelled and air lines stopped operating.
The Prime Minister noted that Air Serbia also helped foreign nationals to return to their homes and thus sent a most beautiful image of Serbia to the world.
Brnabic said that the image of Nikola Tesla on the new airplane symbolises what Serbia today is and what it will be in the future – a joined force of innovations, intelligence, persistence, talent and education.
Today Serbia is one the winning countries because it had Air Serbia when it was the hardest, she said and added that for this reason our county did not have to wait for other air lines to bring the medical equipment and vaccines Serbia had purchased.
That is why I am proud of all the support the government has given to the national air carrier, Brnabic said.
We will provide all other support that is necessary while respecting the principle of free competition and the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) that Serbia has with the EU when it comes to limitations regarding state aid.
The new Airbus А330-200 with the image and name of the famous Serbian scientist Nikola Tesla got its unique look in Shannon, Ireland.
