1,356,000 citizens in Serbia vaccinated

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic announced today that 1,356,000 citizens in Serbia have been vaccinated with at least one dose, and 913,000 have been revaccinated, and expressed the expectation that in the next few days the number of those revaccinated will exceed one million.

Speaking in the House of the National Assembly, where she is answering questions of the deputies together with the members of the government, Brnabic said that it will be possible to relax epidemiological measures next week, considering that the numbers are stagnant now.

She said that the government and the COVID-19 Crisis Response Team are trying to make a good balance between the health of the population and the health system on the one side, and the needs of the economy on the other.

The Prime Minister stated that a third category has been introduced, and these are the citizens that are completely immunised, i.e. protected, in whose case three weeks have passed since the revaccination. There are 564,663 of them, which is less than 10% of the adult population.

According to her, the epidemiological situation is analysed every two hours and, above all, three things are taken into account - the health of the nation, the economy and the mental health of the population.

"We are thinking every day when we can relax the measures, but the most important thing is to give support to health workers, because they are suffering the most now," Brnabic reiterated.

She added that approximately 10,000 citizens apply daily through the eGovernment portal for vaccination, and said that she expects more people to apply from rural areas, with the support of local self-governments.

The vaccination will be additionally speeded up by new shipments of vaccines that are expected to arrive in Serbia – 500,000 Sinopharm vaccines in early April and 106,000 Pfizer vaccines on 5 April.
