Vaccine of fourth manufacturer will soon be available in Serbia

Belgrade, 5 February 2021

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated last night that our country is expected to receive a contingent of the coronavirus vaccine of the fourth manufacturer in the next two weeks, for which preliminary confirmations have been obtained.

In a statement for RTS, Brnabic stated that Serbia is among the top five countries in the world that has the most delivered vaccines per capita, and reminded that our country has received approximately 1.17 million vaccines so far, and that additional quantities are expected by end of February.

The Prime Minister assessed that Serbia, when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic, is behaving exceptionally and that we are living one step away from normalcy, because we have a stable situation.

In Serbia, as she pointed out, at a time when other countries in the world and the region are in a lockdown and have curfews and protests, people in Serbia are living in a normal environment.

She also stressed that the new economic measure of the state to help citizens is important for people to believe in their country.

We have increased pensions, the minimum wage and all that will affect consumption. We have set aside a record amount of money for capital investments of 5.5 percent, we are bringing in new investments, we will have the opening of new plants, such as investors from Germany, Japan, China, and we will lay new stone foundations, announced Brnabic.

At the same time, she said she disagrees with the statement that Serbia's European integration is standing still, because the opening of chapters is not an indicator of whether the country is becoming part of Europe.

As she pointed out, Serbia is becoming a society more and more similar to the European one every day, stating that last year we worked on a very difficult and extensive Chapter 27, which refers to the rule of law, and that the Action Plan for Media Strategy was adopted.

The decision whether to open chapters in some percentage depends on us, but also on whether they want to give a signal to Serbia, Brnabic explained and added that the EU does not want to make a big stratification among the candidate countries, ie they could not give Serbia the green light to open the chapter without starting negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia.

According to her assessment, according to her, two things marked the first 100 days of the government – the opening of two new covid hospitals and the purchase of vaccines.

At the same time, the president confirmed that the arrest of Veljko Belivuk's criminal group was the biggest blow to organised crime since Operation Saber in 2003, launched after the assassination of the then prime minister, Zoran Djindjic.
