Another 40,000 doses of Russian vaccine to arrive tomorrow

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic voiced hope today that a shipment of 40,000 more doses of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V will be sent to Serbia tomorrow and that 9,800 more doses of the Pfizer vaccine will arrive on Monday.

The goal is to get a considerable amount of vaccines in next ten to fourteen days, the Prime Minister underlined and stated that the citizens can rest assured.

The Prime Minister said that the decision on a new package of support to the economy and citizens in the conditions of the coronavirus epidemic is a joint decision of the President of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbian government and added that these measures have still not been precisely defined.

Asked by reporters if the announced aid could have been distributed through social cards and only to the most socially endangered categories of the population, Brnabic said that at this moment we still don't have social cards.

We are working on it and the government has passed the Social Card Bill and sent it to the Serbian parliament for debate, however social cards do not have much to do with the economy, Brnabic explained.

These are extraordinary circumstances, optimism is needed, faith in one's state, economy and the budget, and I believe that we gave citizens that faith in the best possible way with those €100 in direct payment, the Prime Minister said.

According to Brnabic, everything could have been done differently, but the way Serbia did things in 2020 yielded results and it is seen by the fact that we are Europe's most successful economy and the most successful country in 2020.
