Preparations for Serbia's appearance at World Exhibition "EXPO 2020 - Dubai"

Belgrade, 20 January 2021

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic chaired today the constitutive session of the Coordination Body for the Republic of Serbia's performance at the World Exhibition "EXPO 2020 - Dubai" whose task is to prepare and coordinate activities for this world exhibition.

The world exhibition "EXPO 2020 - Dubai" will be held in the period from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.

The theme of the exhibition is "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future", by which the organiser wants to provide a platform to promote creativity, innovation and cooperation globally.

By the decision of the President of the Republic of Serbia, a location was chosen for the construction of the National Pavilion in the thematic part "Mobility", whose focus is on connecting people, goods, ideas and easier access to markets, knowledge and innovation.

Brnabic said that Serbia has a unique chance to present its dynamic transformation based on the most valuable resources – people and ideas generated by the latest and upcoming technologies.

She stated that our country also has a chance to push the boundaries of communication by using the latest hologram, augmented and virtual reality technologies.

This is an extremely important opportunity for Serbia, for our economy, tourism, our culture, for all our citizens, because there is no major world event this year. Serbia has an exclusive location for which the organizers have already offered us to stay in Dubai for the next five years, and not only during the exhibition. That is why our goal is to present Serbia in the most representative way abroad, the Prime Minister pointed out.

In accordance with the established plan, the construction of the pavilion is expected to be completed in February, while the content and program are being intensively developed with the team of the national platform "Serbia Creates".
