Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and Information Maja Gojkovic talked today with members of the Working group for the safety and protection of journalists about the future work and coordination of activities.

Government remains open to cooperation with all media representatives

The Serbian government had formed the Working group for the safety and protection of journalists, in which representatives of state bodies and media and journalist associations, as well as representatives of international organisations that provide support in the overall improvement of the media environment, jointly participate.
Brnabic pointed out that the government will continue to be committed to dialogue and open to cooperation with all media representatives, which is necessary to strengthen trust in the entire society.
Members of the Working group presented several ideas on how to implement activities on the ground. It was agreed to make an action plan that would set out activities and dynamics in detail, and to use a special platform jointly prepared by the Ombudsman and media and journalist associations, which is a base for attacks and pressure on journalists and media workers.
The importance of strengthening the so-called contact points for journalists in public prosecutor's offices and the police, especially when it comes to local communities, was also emphasised.
Gojkovic said that she is open to the proposals of media associations on what can be done specifically for greater security of journalists, as well as that meetings in this format enable us to work together more efficiently and faster.
She also pointed out that the Ministry is ready to start working on the basis of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Media Strategy, especially in the par.
