Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today, during a visit to Ovcar-Kablar Gorge and Ovcar Banja, that a motorway to Pozega will be opened for traffic in early 2022 and that the gorge will be revitalised as a natural good of the first category.

Brnabic toured the gorge together with Minister of Environmental Protection Irena Vujovic and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic, on the occasion of the beginning of a new project of improvement of Ovcar-Kablar Gorge.
The Prime Minister explained that with the opening of the motorway to Pozega the entire traffic will be dislocated from the gorge and we will finally have the conditions to implement what already exists on the paper, and that is a protected area of exceptional characteristics and a natural good of the first category.
A similar thing was done with the dislocation of traffic from some other protected areas, such as the Golubac fortress, which made it one of the most beautiful parts of Serbia and its cultural assets.
This is a landscape that is important as a natural good, but also as a cultural, historical and religious heritage of Serbia and it is our duty to return it to both nature and citizens, the Prime Minister stated.
She voiced hope that the square in Ovcar Banja will be reconstructed next year, that silt removal and cleaning of Lake Medjuvrsje will be completed, as well as the construction of two piers on the lake, the opening of a natural history museum and more.
We need to invest considerable funds because of tourism, but also because of our duty towards nature and our cultural heritage, the Prime Minister underlined.
