At the presentation of the "White Book" of the Foreign Investors Council, Brnabic pointed out that, thanks to the economy, the state was able to withstand the extreme extraordinary costs that still exist today, because the fight against coronavirus continues.
She stated that now the focus is not on presenting results, but on how to make a quick recovery in the coming years bearing in mind that this year has brought many challenges.
The Prime Minister thanked the members of the Foreign Investors Council for donating money, equipment and everything needed for the health system during the first wave of coronavirus in March and April, but also for trying to maintain the highest level of production and employees, and in some cases for even employing new workers.
The Prime Minister highlighted the team work of the President of Serbia, the Serbian government and the National Bank of Serbia, thanks to which Serbia will end this year with the best economic results in Europe.
Our predictions are that we will end this year with a fall in GDP of -1 percent. We are trying to make it -0.7 percent, but according to the estimates of the Ministry of Finance, it will be -1 percent, which is still the best result in Europe, Brnabic reiterated.
According to her, unemployment has dropped to 7.3 percent, and public debt is currently at the level of 57 percent of GDP.
The Foreign Investors Council presented the "White Book 2020" to the top officials of the Serbian government and thus marked 18 years of the existence of the Council.
Due to the epidemiological situation, the "White Book" was presented online, and it is a key product by which the Council gives recommendations aimed at supporting economic growth and a better life for the citizens of Serbia.
The "White Book" was presented through an online platform to representatives of numerous state bodies, embassies and the business and social community.
