Serbia appreciates support of Austria in European integration process

Belgrade, 17 November 2020

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic underlined today during the talks with Austrian Ambassador to Serbia Nikolaus Lutterotti that our country appreciates very much the continuous support of Austria in the process of European integration and the opening of new chapters.

Brnabic said that Serbia has shown its clear commitment to the European path and that she sees the work on promotion of the rule of law, first and foremost through a systemic reform of the judicial system, as crucial for a further progress on that path.

The Prime Minister stated that Serbia is ready for the opening of new chapters and that Austria’s support in the valorisation of what has been achieved so far is of great importance.

Ambassador Lutterotti handed over a letter of congratulations from Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz to Prime Minister Brnabic and the new Serbian government and underlined that Serbia has made very important reform changes in the previous period.

He conveyed a message that his country is firmly resolved to continue being support to Serbia in the process of European integration.

The two officials agreed that the two countries are important economic partners and expressed interest in a further intensification of economic cooperation and the arrival of new Austrian companies on the Serbian market.
