Digitialisation remains priority in coming period

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic participated today in the online meeting of the Group for Europe and Eurasia of the World Economic Forum on the topic "Building a Global Competitive Digital Ecosystem".

The participants in the meeting discussed the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the digital transformation and digital economy.

Brnabic reminded that the digitalisation of both the public and private sector was determined as a priority of the government in 2017, saying that it will be a priority in further work.

When it comes to public services, the government has dedicated itself to the reform of public administration and the introduction and improvement of e-government in the service of citizens and the economy, the Prime Minister pointed out.

She pointed out that the results achieved by the government, when it comes to the introduction of e-government, are valuable right now during the pandemic, and that a good example of that is in the field of education: online teaching in schools and the use of digital textbooks and new technologies in teaching.

Thanks to that, Serbia is among the few countries in which students did not lose a single class due to the pandemic, Brnabic emphasised and added that the government will continue to invest in education.

The Prime Minister also introduced the participants to the most important digital services in the field of health, the goal of which was to make it as easy as possible for citizens to access health services.

According to her, among the most important are the projects "Donate Plasma" and "Be a Volunteer", the introduction of the so-called self-assessment test, SMS and email notifications for testing and others.

The Prime Minister pointed out that thanks to all these projects, Serbia has positioned itself among the five most productive countries in the world when it comes to innovative digital solutions in response to the crisis, according to the OECD.

Speaking about foreign policy, she said that the good relations that Serbia nurtures with a large number of partners (European Union, Russian Federation, China, USA, Israel, Turkey and others), enable us to use the best experiences from all over the world.

EU membership is Serbia's foreign policy priority, and our country will continue to nurture good relations with the Russian Federation, China and the United States, the Prime Minister concluded.
