The Prime Minister pointed out that Serbia is interested in continuing cooperation with the International Monetary Fund even after the expiration of the current arrangement, emphasising that such cooperation best promotes Serbia as an economically stable country and a desirable market for investment.
The Head of the IMF delegation pointed out that he is very satisfied with the fact that the state did not need financial support, and that the following arrangements could therefore be of an advisory nature.
When it comes to economic growth in 2020, Martijn pointed out that there is macroeconomic stability, that Serbia has progressed more than the original projections, which showed, despite the difficult conditions of the pandemic, stability and the possibility of a quick recovery.
Pointing to such indicators, he pointed out that he expects an even faster economic recovery in the next year.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the priority for the next Government will be the "Serbia 2025" programme, because it covers all key infrastructure projects.
Therefore, as Brnabic explained, even greater activity in the construction sector and the continuation of the construction of large infrastructure projects are planned, which will have a positive impact on increasing economic growth.
Announcing further investments in agriculture, Prime Minister Brnabic pointed out that she especially encourages the economic growth of this sector, which is expected to amount to five percent this year.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the support to the IT industry is also significant, in which she sees great potential and which currently participates with almost six percent in the total GDP of the country.
She emphasised that it is more than clear that our economy should be based on knowledge and innovation, which means greater investments in education, science, innovation and new technologies.
The officials agreed that capital investments are an absolute priority, as well as that it is necessary to maintain fiscal discipline in the budget for next year.
When it comes to the continuation of cooperation with the IMF, it was announced that the agreements will be concretised soon, after the end of the current arrangement.
