Washington agreement proof of success of Serbia's foreign policy

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic welcomed today the signing of the Agreement on normalisation of economic relations between Belgrade and Pristina, assessing that it is a good prelude to the continuation of the dialogue in Brussels because it gives a different signal to these talks.

In a statement to Television Pink, Brnabic pointed out that this is a comprehensive agreement on the normalisation of economic relations, the significance of which we are yet to see and recognise in the coming years.

Asked whether the Washington agreement will move from a standstill the dialogue in Brussels held under the auspices of the EU, the Prime Minister said that it is true that the Washington administration has shown much greater efficiency and creativity, as it was very focused on some concrete results and projects.

According to Brnabic, everything that is done in Washington speeds up the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and that is in favour of the EU.

That does not make the situation easier for us, she pointed out and added that the whole process is entered into with political courage and unity, and that in that sense the Declaration adopted by the Serbian government yesterday supporting Vucic and our delegation in Washington is important.

In addition, the agreement signed is proof that we managed to build a relationship with the American side, because now we have an interlocutor who hears us. Thanks to an enormous effort and sincerity of the President of the Republic of Serbia, our country now has a completely different image and it is well known that we are a reliable partner, the Prime Minister underlined.

She voiced her hope that this agreement will open the door to even better relations with the United States, stating that the Serbian delegation was completely ready, a legitimate and strong interlocutor who knows what he wants and can influence the final outcome of the agreement.

It is a policy that reflects all the successes of President Vucic on the international scene and in international politics, Brnabic concluded.
