Prime Minister Ana Brnabic visited today the works on the construction of a waste processing plant in Vinca, a project which signals much greater attention and investments in environmental protection in the coming period.

Waste processing plant in Vinca signals new investments in environmental protection

Brnabic assessed that the construction of the plant in Vinca is one of the most important projects in the field of environmental protection, not only in Belgrade but in the whole of Serbia, mostly because the decades-long problem of solid waste disposal in the capital will be solved in accordance with European standards, by which the quality of life of citizens will be improved.
She noted that Serbia is lagging far behind other countries when it comes to environmental protection, but it has shown readiness to fight these problems since it established a Ministry of Environmental Protection.
In parallel with this project, Serbia is also working on wastewater treatment projects, and recalled that under the "Serbia 2025" programme, the state will allocate €1 billion for projects in the field of environmental protection.
The project of building a waste processing plant in Vinca has a model of public-private partnership, said Brnabic and added that this model should be used much more in the future.
This project is also a good example of how we can encourage private companies to work with the state and local self-government, in order to have a greater impact on the community in a short period of time, the Prime Minister said.
She added that this project, worth €370 million, which currently employs more than 300 workers, is important for GDP growth and that work on it has not stopped even during the coronavirus crisis.
