Fight against coronavirus devoid of political decisions

Prime Minister Ana Brnabic stated today in Ivanjica that there is no politics in the decision that one PCR test is enough to consider asymptomatic patients healthy, and added that she does not see how such a decision could bring political points, or resolve the situation with Montenegro.

In a statement to the press in Ivanjica, Brnabic mentioned that other countries changed and harmonised the methodology during the coronavirus pandemic, as well as that one negative PCR test is a standard of the World Health Organisation (WHO).

You can see by the numbers that our methodology was the most conservative. One negative PCR test is the WHO standard and we wanted to comply with that, which is the only reason for making that decision, the Prime Minister pointed out.

She denied that the government of Serbia serviced the debts of the airline "Air Serbia" or provided financial assistance in any way, and added that "Air Serbia" fought on its own, and did it very successfully on the extremely competitive market.

Brnabic said that, as a representative of the government, she has nothing against the state financially helping the domestic airline, which suffered losses due to the coronavirus pandemic.

She stated that the aviation industry was the hardest hit by the pandemic and pointed out that the EU also said that it would relax the rules regarding state aid to airlines.

If the EU and EU countries will financially help their airlines, then as the Prime Minister of Serbia, I have no problem with the gvernment of Serbia financially helping and supporting "Air Serbia", because now, during the pandemic, we have seen how much that airline is important, the Prime Minister said.

According to her, if it were not for "Air Serbia", we would not have been able to get all the necessary protective equipment, ventilators, additional help and support on time.

Also, as she added, we could not have so many humanitarian flights by which the citizens of Serbia were returned to the country.

The Prime Minister also stated that Belgrade never used any excuses not to continue the dialogue with Pristina, but on the contrary, it is always ready for talks and fulfilled its obligations, unlike Pristina.

She stated that, on the other hand, when something was agreed under the auspices of the EU, Pristina did not implement it.

Brnabic reiterated that Belgrade, for the safety and security of Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija, but also for the stability of the entire region, never sought excuses not to sit at the table, and then there was the introduction of a 100 percent tax on goods from central Serbia, which is the opposite all values.

She pointed out that from 21 November 2018, Belgrade has been calling for the abolition of taxes.

It is great that they came to that, with the great help and support of international partners, said Brnabic and expressed gratitude to the United States and the US Special Representative for Dialogue Richard Grenel for everything they did to create the conditions for the dialogue to continue, and also praised the EU for appointing Special Representative for Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak.
