First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic had a telephone conversation with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt Sameh Shoukry.
The two ministers expressed mutual satisfaction over the development of relations between the two countries which are tied by a traditional and sincere friendship.
They agreed that there is significant room for the further improvement of bilateral cooperation, first of all in the field of the economy.
Dacic and Shoukry concluded that the holding of a Mixed Committee for Economic Cooperation could give an important impetus to the development of economic relations of Serbia and Egypt and agreed to hold it as soon as the situation in both countries gets stabilised.
The two officials also noted that in the coming period, after the coronavirus epidemic ends, it is necessary to carry on with the continuity of political dialogue between the two countries at the high and highest level.
Dacic informed Shoukry about the current situation in Serbia and the measures taken to curb the coronavirus and underlined that the improvement of the epidemiological situation has led to a gradual lifting of restrictions and the opening of borders.
The First Deputy Prime Minister voiced hope that the measures taken by authorities in Egypt will yield results and that the health situation there will soon improve.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt invited Dacic to visit Cairo after the COVID-19 pandemic ends.
